Our evening started out with a 15 to 20 minute wait at our table before anyone even asked us if we wanted a beverage. Busboy was quick to bring water but then the long wait began. One server for the entire restaurant, are you kidding me!! A couple of bus boys that were efficient and a bartender who did not come from behind the bar to assist. Bottom line if you're going to have a restaurant get some drinks in front of your people and they will be happy to wait a little bit. Finally a nice woman appeared, she was not dressed as a server but she took our beverage order. When I asked what type of vodka they served she didn't know. I then received the teeniest martini for $13 and not even with martini olives but the teeny tiny cheapie  olives. We had the cocktails for a little bit and then we were ready to order but wait no one's around to take your order! Finally the one and only server appeared. He was nice. I wanted to order wine with dinner. Wine list was over priced and a small poor selection. I ordered a very bad glass of Chardonnay through the recommendation of the server. Finally we ordered food! I wanted to order a glass of red wine with dinner and I asked about the 2 Cabernets by the glass, the waiter was so nice to bring me a taste of each one. Unfortunately he failed to come back and take my order. My husband and I shared the following and it was plenty for 2. Appetizer- mushrooms with polenta- fantastic flavor and an awesome mixture of mushrooms. I don't think it was polenta I think it was white grits. Pear salad - large salad and fresh. Flank steak steak with Poutine house fries with a fried egg on top - DISGUSTING!! Tasteless flank steak. A grainy tasteless cheese sauce and a rubber egg. This is not even close to poutine! We couldn't send it back because .....guess what there wasn't anyone who came by to check to see how dinner was. I was going to try to doctor the entree with some salt and pepper but there wasn't any nor did any of the tables around us have any. I forgot to mention that I had to ask for a fork. I gave it 2 stars as we were seated according to our reservation and though the service was extremely poor the server was very nice.
GET THE AVOCADO TOAST! We walked in right before the kitchen closed and they were really nice about making sure we got what we wanted just in time. We got the endless mimosas and the server was really great about making sure we always had refills. Unlike a lot of other places that are slow to refill and scurry you out. Coming from Brooklyn, the brunch powerhouse...this place is easily one of my favorite brunch spots ever. I mean look at the pics! The food tastes as good as it looks. The prices weren't crazy, and there is room in the restaurant to move around. I can imagine it's a little loud when full but with a view of the beach behind you can't feel cramped. For sure coming back and telling everyone I know to go! Thanks for a great meal!
I wasn't a fan. It didn't live up to the hype. The service was phenomenal, but the food wasn't. I had a great time catching up with family, but I didn't find anything we had memorable. I've gone for drinks and dinner before, but maybe I just ordered the wrong things this last time. The place is cute, well kept, great staff, and clean. 3 stars for service and ambience. But I'll likely look for a new place for dinner and date night when I'm in Hermosa. Drinks are great, but I came to Abigaile's for dinner. Disappointed. Regardless, had a great night with my family. Come in for drinks, maybe skip the meal, and order appetizers instead.
