I decided to book Above & Beyond as a special meal to treat my parents when visiting Hong Kong. The restaurant boasts fantastic views over Hong Kong harbour but seems to rely heavily on this as the restaurant’s efforts with service and food is severely lacking. We were rushed into our table and promptly told there was no peking duck and a few other dishes had finished. When the food did arrive it was really disappointing. Some dishes were clearly prepared with old oil giving off a bitter aftertaste. Another dish had some very odd meat substitute protein which was really unpleasant. The cocktails were at least tasty and went down well. Overall, this was a very expensive meal which did not do a good job at showcasing Cantonese food or hospitality. Better food can be found in the many cooked food markets around Hong Kong for a tenth of the price. Staff said absolutely nothing when we left, no ‘thank you’ ‘we hope you enjoyed your meal.’ Very poor overall. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
