My bf was in the mood for a pisco sour so after a Yelp search, I was led to this place because it was within walking distance of our hotel in colonia Roma. We spent the afternoon in Polanco seeing the sights, and found it to be a very cosmopolitan neighborhood with high end shops and nice architecture, including the lovely Soumaya museum. After walking for a few miles and working up an appetite, we decided to stop in here around 17:30 for a late lunch/early dinner. The decor was very nice and well thought out, and there was a great romantic, date-night feel to the place. He was craving food like he'd had in Peru last year (he really wanted chicken, but this place is more geared toward seafood), but neither of us was disappointed. I had the tasting of ceviches, and the fish and the accompanying marinades were fantastic- super fresh and succulent. He had the mariscos a la plancha- grilled seafood platter- and every bite was buttery and delectable. I had a pisco drink with Jamaica and a pisco sour- each had a wonderful balance of sweetness and sourness that left me wanting another. I would totally recommend this place. The service was great, the ambiance was great, and the food was incredible. Do it- you won't be sad you did.
Located within walking distance from the hotel hub in Polanco, very convenient . The place is nicely decorated, however there are too many tables for the available space. There is barely room to move. I had the ceviche tasting and it was amazing, specially the shrimp mango and the tuna with tamarindo sauce. As a main course I tried the plancha el mar, the taste was good but a bit oily for my preference. With that being said, I wouldn't classify this restaurant as Peruvian. I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars because the staff was rude since the beginning, we felt scared to ask for anything extra because of their attitude. I also felt pushed by waiter who kept asking me how much I wanted to tip him while he was running my credit card, I rather deal with those details in private.
Great ceviche.
