Al Pancho's Mexican Restaurant in Alpine is definitely a hidden gem. The food is fresh and well-made, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. The chips and salsa that come with your meal are always hot and crunchy, and the enchilada sauce has a unique but delicious flavor. The carne asada burrito is high quality, and the chile rellenos are crispy on the outside and perfectly melted on the inside. The albondigas soup is also a must-try! The margaritas may not be the best, but they have a great selection of beer and Micheladas that are refreshing. If you're looking for some traditional Mexican fare in east county, Al Pancho's is the place to go.

For a sit down restaurant, this establishment provides fast, efficient service. I had the carnitas taco, which comes with carrot slices instead of lime? Okay, it's different. The pork was charred to near perfection and comes with a generous portion of guacmole. Just enough lettuce and tomato to round out the filling. The house chips are crisp and the house salsa is mild with a bit of a bite. Patio area for outside dining although it was a bit chilly tonite. I dined at the small bar. They have a six tap beer selection and bottled Corona for sure. Very laid back atmosphere and a great place for Mexican cuisine.

To clear up any rumors regarding the viral picture of the looter in La Mesa, he is NOT the son of the owner nor has he ever worked for Al Pancho's Mexican Restaurant. I am the daughter of the owner and also a former employee of at least 10 years. The terrible acts committed in the city of La Mesa and the individuals involved have absolutely no connection to the restaurant and Al Pancho's will continue to provide quality service and great food to the community. We value the community and are grateful for the other individuals who have spoken up to defend our family business and we hope to continue living up to the reputation that has taken 20 plus years to build. Thank you!
