Al Toke Pez in Surquillo is a humble establishment that offers authentic Peruvian street food with a focus on seafood. The ambiance is casual and bustling, with limited seating and a lively atmosphere. The interior design is simple but functional, with an open kitchen where patrons can watch their food being prepared.
The prices at Al Toke Pez are very reasonable, making it an affordable option for those looking for quality food without breaking the bank. It is a cash-only establishment, so be sure to bring some bills with you.
Located in the heart of Surquillo, Al Toke Pez is easily accessible by public transportation or taxi. The establishment does not offer outdoor seating or live music, but the food speaks for itself.
Some standout dishes include the combinado, a plate featuring ceviche, chicharron de mariscos (fried seafood), and arroz con mariscos (seafood rice). The ceviche is particularly noteworthy, with fresh ingredients and a perfectly balanced citrus marinade. The chicha morada, a traditional Peruvian drink made from purple corn, is a refreshing accompaniment to the spicy and flavorful dishes.
Overall, Al Toke Pez is a must-visit establishment for anyone looking to experience authentic Peruvian street food at a reasonable price.

Don’t understand the negative reviews on this one! It’s good food (and I don’t normally eat seafood). You queue up for a while (can be over an hour) but did you think you’re the only person to watch Netflix? It’s good quality and plentiful food for a reasonable price as well. Come to experience something you saw on TV from the other side of the world! Vegetarian options: It’s fish Dietary restrictions: It’s all fish and seafood which is good if you can eat that! Al Toke Pez, obviously famous since it appeared on the Netflix Latin America Street food show. Is it still good, is it actually worth all the hype? Oh yes it is, the atmosphere is fun and unpretentious, the freshness of the ceviche is evident, the portions are generous and freshly prepared right in front of you. Worth lining up for 60 min for a lunch ? You better! It’s an eating spot not to be missed while in Lima.
