Cozy little restaurant in a nice location. Good service. The beer was okay. The food though, was well worth the visit. I had the Gordon Bleu which was very good. The Veal Schnitzel was amazing. The batter was seasoned well. It was cooked just perfectly and the sauce complimented the taste just ru. Highly recommend the schnitzel. The potatoes that went along with both meals were tasty as well. Definitely recommend stopping by.
Traditional Austrian food in a cozy, local-feeling environment. Be sure to get reservations.
Visiting Salzburg, even in the off-season in November, required reservations at practically every restaurant we visited. Alter Fuchs (Old Fox) was willing to squeeze us in at a table before another party arrived for a later reservation. The menu was very large with over 50 dishes easily - usually a bad sign in my experience. Our table ordered a good mix of dishes including the veal schnitzel, cordon bleu pork, and dumpling medley. Each person raved about their food. The dumplings, which I ordered, were fabulous. One was cubed ham, another sausage, and the third was caramelized onion I believe. The horseradish sauce was phenomenal as was the sauce already on the dumplings. For beer, they had a German Zwicklbier on tap that was served in a ceramic steinkrug - a nice touch!
