Don't go here for the food. The only reason to spend your time and money here is to see the cave. It is a novelty. The atmosphere was a bit off, with old pop music playing too loud. The food was dated at best. Then our dinners arrived, my fish was so over cooked it was like a hockey puck in an over salted "clam sauce". My wife ordered the chef's special, a sea bass, and she could not take a bite without pulling out clusters of bones, to include large spine sections. When we complained, we were told that is normal for both dishes, fish have bones, and Mahi Mahi is a dry fish that is hard to cook. We asked for the manager and got the same treatment. I never get angry in restaurants, will generally just provide feedback on the way out. In ten years, my wife has never seen me upset over food. They did end up not charging us for our entrees, so we paid and left. My advise, eat at a small local establishment and go tour a cenote.
Great atmosphere to dine it. Eating in a cave is definitely a unique experience. Our server, Diego, was professional and the service was excellent. Walking around the Cenote is an experience in and of itself. The only complaint I have is the food. For a restaurant of their stature and pricing I would expect the food to be better quality. Be sure to tour the whole cenote.
First off, for such a fancy place and tourist coming in, its hard to believe that they couldn't split the bill while other places with less fame did. Second, they charged for the birthday girl's cheesecake and ice cream, even after being said it was complementary and third, apparently there's 2 kinds of services here, There's great and excellent, and according to them we got the excellent service there for we had to pay almost $100 not pesos DOLLARS in tip on top of our almost $500 bill. other than that food was excellent and the place itself was beautiful would probably recommend just for the small self guided tour if u can take the heat. Better off eating at a taco stand, great flavor, better people, and wont get ripped off
