If you want to remember Saturday Night Live - The Exhibition, come to this confectionary restaurant first. Greek and Mediterranean cuisines are famous around the world and guests advise you to taste them at Avra Rockefeller Center. One of the best meals, I've had in NYC. All of the fish was great: the jumbo shrimp, bass and salmon were perfectly cooked. The zucchini chips are super tasty and so are the dessert offerings. The staff was beyond kind; I look forward to visiting again this Fall! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My first time yesterday and had the best seat in the house (corner bar seat by the window for best of both worlds people watching). The bartenders made me feel at home and the staff training manager went above and beyond to make my experience great and I honestly am just overwhelmed with gratitude of how great the hospitality was. We visited AVRA Rockefeller Center with high hopes for an authentic and elevated Greek dining experience, but sadly, the food did not meet the standards of a quality Greek restaurant and we paid more than $200 for two people. The dishes we ordered were largely disappointing. The mushrooms were overpowered by an excessive lemon juice, way to much liquid, they were soggy. It overwhelmed any other taste, making them unbalanced. The jumbo shrimp were tough and nearly impossible to chew, lacking the fresh, tender quality expected from premium seafood. The eggplant was unremarkable, with no depth or distinction to elevate it. Most frustrating was the chicken, which had no hint of Greek seasoning or character. It tasted bland and rushed, as if it was thrown together without care or preparation. On a positive note, a few elements stood out. The hummus appetizer was smooth and flavorful, providing a solid start to the meal. The calamari was well-executed, crispy, and satisfying. The mini dessert offered at the end was a pleasant touch, though not particularly memorable. The tuna tartare was decent but only average, failing to make a strong impression. Additionally, I must commend the waitstaff for their exceptional service. The servers were attentive, professional, and made the dining experience more enjoyable despite the food’s shortcomings. Overall, while the ambiance and the stellar service from the waitstaff are highlights, the food at AVRA Rockefeller Center falls short of what a high-caliber Greek restaurant should deliver. With many other Greek dining options in the New York, I’d hesitate to return unless the kitchen significantly improves its offerings.
