Theme is misleading, food average, really over-priced. We arrived to find the already expensive menu had increased in by price by 35% overnight! We booked 2 days before when the website advertised £70 per adult (£50 per child) yet the new cost was £95 and £70. When questioned they did ‘honour’ the old pricing but it did make things awkward with a table of guests. The most disappointing aspect was the setting - nothing themed in the restaurant area at all - felt like a standard basement hotel lobby/restaurant. Even some more imaginative music would have helped rather than some random RnB playing in the background. Sandwiches had a dry layer on the outside suggesting they were not fresh. I know it was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but there was way too much sweet stuff and none of it was really chocolate-based. The positives were friendly staff, the dry ice drinks and candy floss. Plus we got the book for free too. Otherwise I’d say save your money and go to The Ritz instead. We had high expectations for this experience but was severely disappointed. Extremely underwhelming!! We were met at the first level by a lovely host, who showed us to our seat. The staff that served us throughout were fine and had no issues. As you enter the venue you expect big things it's decorated on the first floor with some wonka theme that looks awesome but then you are taken downstairs to a pretty standard restaurant room which has no connection to Wonka at all and you could have been absolutely anywhere. The food was severely lacking anything close to it's £70 price tag. Advertisements are misleading, things like the fizzy lifting drinks (dry ice) you pay an extra £11 for which is extortionate for a bit of strawberry juice which is gone in 2 mouthfuls. Sandwiches were fine. Definitely not enough to fill you up I would have expected at least unlimited refills for the price tag. The scones were tasty but just as tasty as anything iv had before. The desserts looked appealing photos sell it well online but did not match up to that. Weird flavour and texture combinations. On top of your £150 bill for 2 people they then pop on a 15% service charge another £23, as if the amount paid wasn't enough already. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone unfortunately.
