Having lived in Thailand for five years I’m always a bit sceptical of Thai restaurants here, having been let down so many times with some very bland food. Ayuttaya really surprised me. The food was really great and so reasonable priced bordering on cheap. The menu is really extensive and I saw dishes I’d not seen out of Thailand We had some great starters including the classic Tom Kha ghai, always a litmus test for a restaurant along with some fish cakes and meatballs on skewers done in a lovely dipping sauce. Next some great stir fried vegetables which were really crisp and perfectly crunchy. We had the special dish of pork and asked for it Thai spicy and it didn’t disappoint! They even had draft Singha beer which I’ve not seen before. This was lovely and fresh and went well with the food. The service was so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for the waitress. This is a lovely thai family that run it with the father cooking in the kitchen. It’s not trying to be pretentious in any way- simply a great and simple place and I’ll definitely be back. Not the worst, but not the best food either. A bit greasy and the meat wasn’t great quality, but portions are generous and prices are fair. The staff were really nice and accommodating, though for some reason our dishes didn’t all come out at the same time. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: kr 100–200
