After seeing Central Park, it may be a good idea to visit Backhaus. To taste perfectly cooked chocolate croissants, Brezeln and almond croissants is a truly nice idea. Great coffee will make your meal even more delicious and you'll certainly come back.

At the moment, Yelp users rate this place 4.5.

Love the pastries.  Tried the pistachio raspberry croissant and that was amazing.  Other are probably awesome also.  A warm croissant will be better also.  ;-) There wasn't really much space to sit around and enjoy the food.  But with so many people waiting inline, whatever space will be filled anyway.
Only missing the fifth star because there is no option to slice the amazing bread or warm the incredible pastries. The approachable supermodel workers in their chignons and coordinated shirts  ,have a good spiel( they are fresh out of the oven and the bread is best enjoyed freshly sliced... and I'm already dreaming of my next pistachio raspberry croissant, which was so very fresh but not actually warm... if it had been... oooohhhh! I enjoyed Backhaus part of Kitchentown, but these offerings in their storefront are leveled up and the space is so beautiful. The latte was truly the best I've had in years- not sure what coffee that they are using, but so so good. I'm sure the country loaf that I purchased will impress as well! I actually should add that fifth star back for that beautiful outdoor space. It was a chilly morning. I can't wait to meet a friend outside for coffee. Bravo!
I would recommend coming to Backhaus in the morning in order to have full access to the wide selection of their baked goods.  I showed up in the afternoon and most of the items were sold out. I was able to pick up some of their bread, which they offer in full and half loaves.  Their bread is fresh, hearty and rustic.  It paired really well with cold butter.  The bread is not stuff you find wrapped in plastic in a standard supermarket but what I would expect to see in a good restaurant.  It very much reminded me of the bread at Tartine. Parking is available on the street and in the nearby garages.  Get there early for the best selection!  I look forward to trying some of their other baked goods but the bread alone is reason enough to stop by.
