A local attraction - Mullner Kirche, that is situated near this restaurant, is a part of the unique culture of the city. Austrian cuisine provides authentic meals at Bärenwirt. The recipe for success of this place is its mouthwatering wiener schnitzels, fried chicken and pork roast. You will be served good apple strudels, Salzburger Nockerl and gelato. It's a must to try delicious draft beer, wine or cordial when coming to this spot. The whole impression won't be complete without coffee that is great here.

There is a beautiful view from this restaurant. The competent staff welcomes people all year round. Bärenwirt is notable for its fabulous service. Prices are found attractive here. You will appreciate the homey decor and comfortable atmosphere of this place. The Trip score for this spot is 4.5.

Very cheap but cash only unfortunately.
Great food and service. The place is frequented by locals (meaning it's not just touristy hype). The apple strudel was really good. Do make a reservation or you might have to share a table (we shared our table with a nice Austrian couple who recommended trying the fried chicken next time).
Is it the fact that Bärenwirt is in Salzburg, or the fact that this restaurant is nearly 400 years old that makes it so charming?  Don't know.  Don't care!  All I know is I really enjoyed coming here for lunch one of the days I was in Salzburg this past September. Nothing on the inside is likely original to the grand opening of this restaurant sometime in the 1600s, but it is still really quaint and I'm sure in the evenings, this is a great pub to come to. Service was pretty good.  I was tempted to break out my German but got really shy and ended up speaking English the whole time which was fine.  I got a noodle dish that was absolutely amazing and my colleague got a dish with lots o' meat and he was really excited about it. It seemed like most of the people there weren't tourists unless they were all from Germany, but only one other table had people speaking English, everyone else was German so maybe... maybe... this isn't totally a tourist trap.  Or maybe we just came at the right time. Would totally come here again!
