Baja is my current craving whenever I want to eat out. My favorite place in the harbor and the best fish tacos. The food is quality, the service amazing, and their homemade salsa is chef’s kiss. When we don’t get their fish tacos or fish and chips, we love their quesadillas with the cheese melted on the outside and their rotating torta options. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Huge shoutout to Baja Bay Surf N Tacos for turning a simple taco stop into a full-blown “guess we live here now” afternoon. We’re currently on a six-week road trip, hiking our way through 13 national parks, and this was one of our designated rest days. Meaning: laundry, hydration, and pretending our legs still belong to us. Somewhere between washing socks and chasing quarters, we decided tacos were necessary. Because honestly, when are fish tacos not necessary? What started as a quick stop stretched into a couple of happy hours hanging out on the patio. We ordered fish tacos, originally hoping for red snapper, but they were out, so cod stepped in as the understudy and absolutely nailed the role. Flavorful, fresh, and paired dangerously well with a seriously solid margarita. Then came one of the best parts of the afternoon: chatting with the guy grilling tri-tip right there on the little patio. Funny, welcoming, and clearly gifted with fire and meat. The man was basically running a tiny taco theater production, and we became loyal audience members immediately. Naturally, we ordered more food. The shrimp ceviche was fresh and tasty, though I personally lean toward a more classic ceviche style. Then I surprised my husband with a tri-tip taco because, at this point, I practically knew the chef, obviously. And wow. That taco. Melt-in-your-mouth tender with perfectly balanced flavor. The homemade blue corn tortillas deserve their own applause too. Soft, fresh, and clearly made by people who understand tortillas are not just a delivery system, they are part of the experience. By the end, we were gloriously overfed and completely skipped dinner. No regrets. Laundry day has never tasted this good. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My favorite go to place after a walk at the marina…but today I walked in with my emotional support dog with her vest on as required to do in a place of business. I was carrying her in to order food to go. The first thing when I stepped in I was told rudely you can’t come in with your dog. I said she is a service dog and I just want an order to go…the employee just shrugged his shoulders and said you can’t be in here with a dog. No offer to order …please wait outside….I will bring it to you…. Nothing. I have had a service dog for 4 years and this is the first time ever any business has refused to serve me. It was very hurtful…as if it’s not enough to need a service animal for whatever reason but to be shunned and refused service ….it is wrong not as well as against the law.
