Both Renjo-ji Temple and Bar Woody are recommended for visiting. Drink delicious scotch, gin or beer, it's a must when visiting this bar. Visit this place and have good tonic.

Verynice and relaxedbar with avery friendly owner. Can't complain about anything. Even with my limited Japanese, no problem, he spoke some English. Very good Negroni (my standard test ifa bar is good). A lovely fruit cocktail with Calvados (His recommendation) and a Whiskey Sour (with Egg white on my request). Everything perfect. A truly fantastic selection of Japanese and American whiskeys. Also one of the best gin & tonics I've ever had. There is no beer!We stumbled upon Bar Woody almost by accident. It is located across the street from our hotel (the Kichijoji Dai-Ichi) and we only found it after the first bar we tried was closed. Bar Woody isn't big, there are only 8 or 10 seats at the bar and only a few tables. The atmosphere is intimate: dim lighting and jazz music. More of a spot for a quiet drink than to party with you friends.Kichijoji is not a spot where a lot of American tourists stay in Tokyo, but the bartender did speak enough English for us to get by. His first words as we walked in were "No Beer!" but he warmed up to us once we demonstrated our affection for good whiskey. After we paid, he walked us down the three flights of stairs and shook our hands.Kichijoji is a little off the beaten path in Tokyo, but Bar Woody is truly worth a trip if you like good whiskey. I'll be heading back there if I ever find myself in Tokyo again.
