I first tried Battambang a year ago and it has since become one of my favorite places in the East Bay. I hadn't had Cambodian food before this, and I was absolutely blown away by the combination of flavors. My favorite dish has to be #9 Troub Trung Kor (smoked eggplant with prawn & ground pork). It's the perfect balance of sweet, savory and tangy, all rounded out by the creaminess of the eggplant. The silky texture of the eggplant is contrasted nicely by bits of pork and shrimp, and it goes perfectly over rice. It's a dish I find myself craving VERY often. With excellent food, generous servings and friendly service, Battambang provides a thoroughly memorable dining experience.
