Come for a meal after visiting Pacific Tsunami Museum. You will like its food, particularly tasty eggs benedict, salmon benedict and salads. Make a change from your traditional meal and order good soufflés, belgian waffles and bagels at this restaurant. It might be nice to enjoy delicious espresso, latte and juice.

You can listen to live music in the evening. The success of Bear's Coffee would be impossible without the attentive staff. Terrific service is something that people note in their comments. Prices are found to be attractive here. It's a pleasant place with the homey atmosphere. But the general score for this place isn't high on Zomato.

Bears is where my coffee gang meets regularly to solve world hunger and world peace. Still working on it. Great place for relaxed coffee and breakfast served by smiling faces and personalities. They just started serving toast with bread from the Papaa Paola Bakery and that's a very nice addition.  Don't forget to say goodbye when you leave so you'll have a smile to last you the whole day!
Bears is a local breakfast lunch place in Hilo. If you're on the Hilo side, you are already prone to having a more relaxed, less touristy experience.  I'll admit that I have become too Yelp prone, which is just looking at the top two to three restaurants. That mistake on my part fortunately lead me to Bear's today. I first went to Paul's (#1 on Yelp) and they were fully booked via reservations. But the guy there very politely offered Bears as an alternative, so here I am. I really liked it. I had biscuits and gravy and my wife had the breakfast burrito.  Both were huge portions and very tasty. This place has the local shop vibe. Laid back. Good coffee. Art for sale on the walls.  Also, no huge crowds and good street parking. We came in, sat, ordered, and the food came out in a normal amount of time. Finally, the total bill of $39 for my family of 3 was just higher than the $26 cost for one at the hotel.  That's a bit apples oranges as the hotel is a buffet, but if you are looking for value, Bears fits the ticket here too.
Great salmon sandwich/burger! And the mac salad they served...mm-mm!! Awesome lunch. Only think I wished was that my hot chocolate was creamy, it was more water than chocolate. Otherwise, staff so nice!
