This place is generally ok but today 8th September 2026 I arrived at 20:09 only to find empty store with no food. Shopkeeper told me they close early because it is quiet time. Maybe? But coincidentally at the same time, another customer stepped in, so I don't believe this excuse. Their opening hours on the store and on google clearly say it will be open until 20:30 and I think it is misleading to close over 20 minutes early. Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

We visited Bento on York Street with high hopes and ordered the Wagyu Donburi and a custom dinner box. The wait time was reasonable, and we were genuinely excited to try the food. Unfortunately, the excitement quickly faded once the dishes arrived. The Wagyu Donburi was incredibly bland—no flavor, no seasoning, just a disappointing bowl of tasteless beef and rice. We tried salvaging it with soy sauce, but even that couldn’t help. Desperate for some flavor, we asked for curry sauce, only to be charged $10 for a tiny bowl that barely made a difference. It felt like a steep price for such a small portion, especially when it didn’t improve the dish. The custom dinner box was okay—not amazing, but passable. Overall, we left feeling dissatisfied, especially considering the hype around wagyu and the premium pricing. Bento might have other decent options, but based on this experience, we won’t be rushing back. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: A$20–40
