Delicious food with great environment. if you are in Krakow, have a try for your dinner here.
Small menu and off the beaten path a great little get away.
We went to Biała Róża in the Krakow Restaurant week. The concept is simple: the restaurant cooks a set 3 course meal for 39 zloti. This was nice, because otherwise we would have never discovered this place! After being welcomed at the door we got to choose our table, and ordered some drinks. The set menu was as follows: Starter: Cream of young cabbage and nettle. Main course: veal Cheeks, kidney, millet, asparagus. Dessert: Iced chocolate sorbet with green parsley ice, rhubarb. It has to be said that this is a very classy place, with sophisticated decoration, white linen and shiny wineglasses on the table. The staff is dressed in black and white and very professional and friendly. Their English was also excellent, which is not a must, but definitely a plus. About the food then: after having overcome the initial excitement of being in such a classy environment, seeing the food served beautifully in latest-fashion plates, it almost hurts to say the taste itself was a bit of a let-down. Not that it wasn't good, because it was, but it was not up to the standards of the rest of the place. No taste explosions, no surprises (except maybe the parsley icecream), no real layers of depth in taste that make you go like "wow I wonder how they made this". The kind of food that a cooking-enthusiastic friend or family member might cook on a Sunday. This in itself is not necessarily a bad thing, but in this type of refined place it is just more noticeable. Having that said, the prices are very reasonable (looking at the menu, not taking into account the restaurant week discount). If you ever find yourself looking for a place to take a classy date without paying top dollar, this is a good choice.
