They just stoled all the money you tipped to service, even one excellent man from morning shift ,,Penn" he died in few months after we finish season in black rock, but hotel (Santorini secret) and black rock management (they are same) they just don't care, they not even give the the tipped money to family of Penn, But they open new rooms for hotel from poor people's money, there is no day off all 7 month and you know how difficult it is to run up and down all 7 month, SO WHEY THEY SMILE YOU YOU WILL KNOW WITH WHO YOU HAVE BUSY

One star is too much for you... You don't respect and appreciate your staff... their rooms are nowhere and in the end you ate the tips of the children who worked hard all season... so black from me at black rock.

Let me start by saying that Santorini is a beautiful city, but it is a challenge when you're visiting with any kind of accessibility needs (nothing to be done there, expect be aware of this when you're visiting). Unfortunately I was in an accident on day 2 of our holiday and ended up in a boot and on crutches so the city itself was a challenge. Luckily, (nearly) everyone was so accommodating and helpful and friendly in Santorini and there were offers in most places we went to to give me a hand and for the most part I was able to enjoy the holiday unaffected. This was not the case in Black Rock restaurant. We had booked this restaurant for our last night in Greece and were really looking forward to it. We were looking forward to a high end meal and were planning on splashing out for our last night. I was aware there were some steps involved in visiting but I'd been to nearby Ombra the previous night and whilst it was challenging, it was doable and we presumed Black Rock would be the same as there is no flag anywhere on their website/on open table that you need full mobility to access this restaurant. If we had been flagged this anywhere we would not have confirmed our booking and would have cancelled in advance. We showed up on the night and saw some steps (grand, still doable) but when we got about halfway down they got really narrow, steep and there were no handrails. We soon realised that it was going to be impossible for me to get down, at least without breaking my neck. So, as there were no staff around, I called the restaurant (whilst still sitting on their steps) to explain the situation. The person on the phone, whilst they did not offer any assistance in terms of getting down, was understanding and did say that they would speak to the manager and sort the cancellation fee. So we left based on this. Fast forward to 5 days later and €100 has been taken from my account. I understand cancellation policies are there to protect revenue for the restaurant, but this was a very unique circumstance and I am very upset that there has been no flexibility or compassion here, and that this was not even flagged when we were sitting outside the restaurant. I have also emailed them twice this week with no response at all. Even if only half of this was taken I would have understood, but to take a full €100 is frankly not what I would expect from a higher end restaurant, and in such a busy place. I think they should be adequately warning people that it is not accessible unless you have full mobility, or at least be understanding when people arrive with reduced mobility (e.g. me on crutches) and ring up and either help them down the steps or waive (or at least reduce) the cancellation fee. This has left a sour taste in our mouth in what was otherwise a wonderful trip filled with the most friendly, compassionate and helpful people. Update [As I cannot reply to the owner's response below] They are clearly thinking of a different customer as I called literally 15 minutes befor the booking as I was on the steps (which I flagged to the person on the call) and was told that they would speak to the manager about the cancellation fee, and no offer was made of assistance. I have also emailed 3 times over the past 2 weeks already with no response (before I posted this review). Service: 1

Dear Shauna C, Thank you for your comments. Please let us disagree with what you wrote about …Dear Shauna C, Thank you for your comments. Please let us disagree with what you wrote about us. Opentable platform has a specific cancellation policy, 3 days before your booking, there is no charge, after this period we have to charge your card. When you called us in the afternoon to cancel your reservation in the evening we suggested you to change it for another day, but you told us it was your last day. So we informed you that due to the cancellation policy you would be charged normally and you did not express any disagreement on the phone. In addition, we never received a phone call from you during your visit to help you with the stairs. All stairs also have a handrail for the safe ascent and descent of our guests and in the past we have had occasion to provide assistance to our guests. Please email us so that our Manager can discuss your issues personally. Kind Regards, Black Rock RestaurantMore
