Incredible food and service! Absolutely love everything about this place.
Mushroom Ravioli was amazing, fried artichokes could have been a little crisper but enjoyable. The tofu salmon sides shined more than the tofu, but it was good. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Will be back for sure!
We decided to go to Blossom on Columbus after a visit to the Met and stroll through Central Park. We were getting really hungry and this was one of the first vegetarian friendly that popped up in our search. It was fairly empty when we visited on a Sunday close to noon in the Summer, so there wasn't a wait at all. The wait staff was very kind and helpful as well. We decided to skip drinks and go straight to appetizers since we were hungry. We ordered the Buffalo Arancini (Quinoa-Breaded Risotto Croquettes, Bleu Cheese) ($14). This was the best item that we ordered and we easily devoured them! The first aspect you notice is the creative and colorful presentation, which was wonderful. They almost tasted like Mac and Cheese Balls without the cheese, with a flavorful crispy exterior and filling qunioa inside. The only downside was that this dish was at room temperature, we were expecting it to be atleast warm, but I'm not sure if that's how this dish is designed to be served or if it was left out a bit to long before being served. For the entrees, we ordered the Huevos Rancheros (Refried Black Beans, Tofu Scramble, Ranchero Salsa, Guacamole, Tapioca Cheese, Sour Cream, Corn Tortilla) ($18). This was a large portion with a lot of separate ingredients that you're supposed to miss into tiny tortillas, almost like a fajita, a concept which I liked. The tofu scramble wasn't my jam at all and I skipped it entirely, however my friend enjoyed it very much. For me, it was a unique taste that left me with a kind of "oily" aftertaste. I did enjoy the rest of the plate and made tiny tacos with the declisoous guacamole, as well as the beans and sour cream. We also ordered the Southern Seitan (Crispy Spiced Seitan, Caramelized Onions, Avocado, Chipotle Aioli, Romaine, Focaccia) ($17), along with Tempeh Bacon ($9). The seitan was also disappointing and underwhelming for me. Personally, I think it's hard to make seitan right and this was certainly the case here. While it was flavorful, the blend of spices and flavors just didn't sit right for me. The Garlic Fries that came with the dish were delicious. The Tempeh Bacon was surprisingly decent, as I never tried tempeh before. While it tasted far off from what bacon would taste like, it was a decent substitute, with it's smoky flavor. It had a much different consistently a was a bit soft and chewy. Overall, I'm not sure if it was the entrees we ordered or just the food in general (except for the appetizer), however the food portion of our experience at Blossom on Columbus was very underwhelming. I do like the fact that they had a wide and creative variety with their vegan food, so I would like to potentially visit again for other options. However, I don't plan on coming back for a while.
