We had just pulled in to Palm Springs after a harrowing drive through a rain storm in lots of traffic. We were craving some comfort food big time but our go-to Alps Village is closed on Sunday nights. The restaurant Bontá which means "goodness" popped up and the location in Cathedral City was close enough. We parked in the back and walked up the long ramp into the spacious building and were immediately seated at a quiet table in the back.  I was able to order a split of Prosecco the bubbly Italian wine. This option is fast disappearing from menus and the tiny bottle offers a glass and a half of wine. The menu held the promise of warm homey meals and we ordered Chicken picata and a pork schnitzel. The dinners came with vegetables and mashed potatoes and red cabbage. Our very friendly waitress Petra provided lively and fast service. We dug into the generous plates immediately. Nothing like 6 hours on the road to whet your appetite.  The food was well cooked and filled every nook and cranny.  But we some how still had room for desert as we had spied the apple strudel option on the menu.  The strudel is the real deal. Warm inside and slightly crispy on the outside with whipped cream, it was the perfect ending to a delicious feast.   And it was like
I had the Polish sausage which was unbelievable excellent my wife had the shrimp couldn't be any better highly recommend happy hour
Really just "fair". They definitely don't have the staffing to do dinners well prior to a play next door, even if you arrive well in advance. The Happy Hour drinks were watery and it was not appetizing to watch the bartender stick his fingers into the olives, lemons, etc. The service for food was so slow that in order to go next door for the play, we have to wolf down our food (we had 1 ½ hours for dinner and were told that "this isn't a fast food place"). With so many restaurants in the area, you really have to do better if you want to survive.
