This is truly my favorite place. Everyone is always so friendly, and their drinks are so fun! I'm not even a plant person but the vibes are perfect. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This is a lovely cafe and I have had very pleasant experiences in the past and recommend the cafe very often. Today was not the case (although the iced melon tea was delicious) and I will not go back, will not recommend, and have called family and friends to ask them to stop going there as well. This is due to the extremely rude manager as well as both associates behind the counter - I was a paying customer!!!! I bought an iced tea and my friend purchased a drink and a sandwich - spend $17. Because of dietary restrictions, I brought my own yogurt from home . The manager said since we sell food you can't bring in your own. I told him my situation and thought we were good - far from it - he approached me again - this time quite rude. It would be different if I did not order anything. I have gone to many cafes all over the city and brought a small yogurt with me and there has never been an issue. The manager said something about it being illegal from the health department and what I found on line was this: "It's not illegal but a restaurant can ask you to stop eating your food." And Botanical Cafe decided to give a paying customer a very uncomfortable experience. I also found this: The American Disabilities Act clearly stats that if this is a working meal that said person can bring their own food if it is due to an allergy or auto immune disease that is protected by the ADA. Places of public accommodation that have policies prohibiting customers from bringing in outside food may need to make modifications to allow allergic individuals equal access and take steps to ensure individuals with a disability are not excluded from participation and access. See 42 U.S.C. §12181(b)(2). Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Hi Linda, We’re glad you enjoyed your tea and appreciate you and your friend choosing Botanical Cafe to meet up. However, you leaving a one star review over something like this is ridiculous. First of all, this is a bias recall of what happened. You were politely informed that outside food is not permitted within the cafe, there are two signs on the front door stating this fact. The manager did not tell you it was illegal, he informed you that it is not allowed by the health department as we are responsible and liable for all of the food and drinks that come in and out of the cafe. If someone were to get sick because of something they brought in, we would get in trouble, even if it wasn’t from us. This isn’t worth the risk to us. This is our policy and you have to follow it. Second of all, he shouldn’t have had to tell you two times. We have had no problem with people in the past either stepping outside to finish their snack or putting it away until they leave. You decided to make this a bigger issue than it needed to be. Lastly, you were eating Chobani yogurt and fruit. These are both things that can be purchased from us. By claiming disability when it doesn’t even make sense to, you’re making it harder for individuals with actual disabilities to get the accommodations they need. If you were able to have our tea, then there was no reason you couldn’t have also had your afternoon snack from us. We take sanitation and allergies very seriously. Have a great day, The BC Team
