Cool little vintage store, all sorts of stuff from furniture, collectibles, aloha shirts, koa bowls and vintage bottles to art work, tikis and old signs. Prices are very fair and sometimes negotiable. Store has a pretty high turnover rate so if you see something you want I'd consider purchasing it there and then. They also have rugs, vinyl and a particularly provocative statue. All in all if you're wandering around downtown Hilo stop by and check it out.
I had the misfortune to do business with Troy Parker-Bailey and would advise consumers to steer clear of him and his business, Bytes and Pieces of Hilo, unless you enjoy being swindled and treated with disrespect. I have bought and sold dozens, if not hundreds, of vintage items over the years and I can honestly say this is the worst experience I have had. Troy contacted me to purchase a set of vintage chairs I was selling on Craigslist. I posted a dozen or so high definition photos from every angle, along with a very clear description of their faults and that they were a big project and being sold as-is. He told me he would like to purchase them but asked that I dropped them off at his store, and I once again iterated their poor condition and told him that I was pregnant and did not want to deliver them unless he understood that they were a project, but he was not phased and gave me a price range he would be willing to pay. When I brought them, he decided that they were a big project (shocker, I know) and offered a price FAR below his range, with absolutely no apology and with a go-to-hell attitude to boot. Unfortunately, the chairs took up all my available vehicle space and I was halfway through my trip to another part of the island to buy some other furniture, plus I did not relish the thought of moving the chairs once again, seeing as I am clearly well into my 3rd trimester of pregnancy, so I felt like I had no choice but to take his lowball offer. In hindsight, I should have donated them on the spot, but at the time I felt like I had no other choice.
