For some reason I’ve been to many cafe Rio in Utah, Saratoga Springs, American Fork and even West Valley have all been super clean. We come to idaho and everyone we been to has been super trashy. Around the glass window has lint and dust built up. Their food haven’t been wiped down since they opened. The grill has been so first and food build up. I think I’m done with cafe rio here in Idaho. Their food quality has gone down ALOT. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

I used to really enjoy Cafe Rio years ago, but unfortunately the Star location has been a huge disappointment. The food quality and portion sizes have clearly declined compared to what Cafe Rio used to be known for. The experience just isn’t the same anymore, and judging by the current rating here, it seems a lot of other customers are noticing the same thing. What’s even more concerning, though, is the leadership at this location. The general manager sets a poor example for both staff and customers. I’ve personally seen him park his personal vehicle in the designated to-go pickup spot right in front of the restaurant — something customers are expected not to do. More importantly, several young employees (many of whom are high school students working their first jobs) deserve better leadership than what they’re getting here. Respect and professionalism from management go a long way in creating a positive workplace, and unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be happening at this location. Good leadership sets the tone for everything — food quality, customer experience, and employee morale. Until that changes, it’s hard to see this location improving. I went a few months ago and the rice was crunchy and the tres leches was so dry. I decided to give it another try today because its close to my house. Ordered to go a salad, tostada and a kids meal. They only gave us one dressing, our kids meal was missing a side, they scooped salsa into one of the dividers and it spilled all over the food. We got chips and guac and they gave us queso instead. And we got horchata and it was pure syrup, I think they loaded the machine with the concentrate? I called in and they offered a refund but I will not be returning. Next time I'll spend the time to drive to Costa Vida and get my order correctly and way better food!
