We took a trip to Sicily to try this infamous bakery only to be let down to discover that it is closed from Nov 5 to Dec 5 for vacation (nearly all stores/bakeries in town were closed)
Enjoyed 7 days in a row all their gelati and sorbetti. Highlight was the brioche with almond granita. Personnel is friendly and helpful. Don’t go to Noto without trying some of their delicacies. This is La Dolce Vita in it’s purest essence. Grazie mille Corrado e Francesco!
Whatever was special and unique about this place, was taken away. I don't doubt the history and the quality which this pastry shop had, but these days, giving the oversaturated tourists flow, it simply fades away. The Netflix documentary is very well made, it really makes you believe and try the Caffe Sicilia experience. Too bad that what Netflix gives, Netflix takes. Now, everyone is crowding inside, to grab a table. No wonder that they increased the service fee, I really understand them. Duringthe time while we were waiting in line, tons of people were crowding and pushing at the cashier desk. Some of the tourists were entering just to take pictures and then they were leaving. We were the only ones, from our waiting line, who asked for take away (which surprised mr Corado's wife because immediately after I asked for an almond granita and TerraNostra cake, she replied that they don't have seats). I really don't understand these people, why would you die to stay inside and overcrowded and very very noisy place? We took our granita and the cake and walked just 20m, to find a quiet place near Nella Grande Guerra statue park, stood on a bench and enjoyed the sweets. So thanks but no thanks Netflix!
