Great restaurant, great food and great atmosphere. Unfortunately we had to endure the worst waitron we’ve ever experienced. No introduction and barely ten words spoken to us the entire time was a clear message as to how she felt about her customers. After forgetting about our snacks and drinks on 2 separate occasions, we had to ask another hard working waiter to follow up on our waitron. This only made matters worse as we were treated with extreme attitude and disregard going forward. 30 minutes wait for drinks and being blatantly ignored for the rest of the night confirmed our suspicions. As non-locals, we were highly recommended Casa Cerveza. It would have been a 5/5 if not for Aliziwe leaving a bitter taste in our mouths. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: R 500+

Myself and various other stellenbosch locals have been visiting this wonderful welcoming and tranquil location for nearly a decade since before Casa Cervesa opened. The staff have become friendly aquiantances we all got to know and appreciate over the years. When Casa Cervesa opened up, a humble beer house offering a place to drink our favourite stellenbosch craft beer and eat the wonderful meals of the trusted chef Thomas. We rejoiced that this is a place for civilised and tranquil breakaways after work, during lunch times, or weekends with the families. Whether you are watching people looking out onto historical dorp street, or enjoying the shade of the trees in the quad at the back. All of this has gone terribly south since March of 2021, and many local customers are spreading word that this is no longer a place to be. It has been taken over by students and has become a disgrace of a beer house putting shame to that wonderful location. Mass bookings of student groups has made it impossible for staff to handle. Drinks specials of the likes you will find in low class rugby clubs are leaving students drunk and, not surprisingly, behaving as such. Students are stealing and breaking glasses. Footage of equipment worth tens of thousands or Rands in the kitchen being repeatedly destroyed is spreading. Not that the students would care, they are not there to buy the lovely meals, they're just there to get incapacitated. Bathrooms are being vomited in, and the brand new restaurant next door has now found themselves in the worst location imaginable. The excellent, well known staff are miserable and talking of leaving after years of loyalty. We could not have imagined that this would happen to such a welcoming family friendly beer house but it does not seem like the owner is interested in keeping up the stature of his house and the loyalty of the people who supports them during lock down or after the students will turn to the next best thing after ruing this venue. Therefore, for the time being, I have to advise no one looking for a clean classy beer house a lunch brake away or a family lunch to go here again. Your experience will certainly be spoilt in the evenings when the plastic glasses come out, and tainted when you struggle to find a clean table outside that does not tell the tale of the night before. For now there are alternatives in Stellenbosch such as Craft in the beautiful Andringa street, whose business model does not allow for this to happen. It's a bit more pricey but a price we are willing to pay for a civilised beer and some good tapas with a view.
