Overpriced for average food. The chocolates we ordered were not all that great. Cutlery and glasses were a bit dirty. Not impressed. Food looked good but absolutely not worth it.

The Cat’s Tongue Chocolatiers…well the cat didn’t my tongue, and I am glad, because I cannot say enough about the hot chocolate they serve! This is a place to visit for REAL hot chocolate. And there are no marshmallows to be found – instead the cup is accompanied by a squishy chocolate and a strip of chocolate in case you need an extra hit. Hard core that I am, I threw in the lot! There is no point having a half attempt. This was a hot chocolate to rival Pollen…the right balance of bitter and sweet.

If there's one thing we take very seriously in Tasmania, it's food. And we all know that chocolate is the pinnacle of the food pyramid, so you can only imagine how important fine chocolate is to a Taswegian. Enter: the Cat's Tongue. No, this chocolate does not taste rough and annoying. (If you have a cat those two adjectives will possibly make sense. If you don't have a cat, you should have a cat.) Anyway. Bit of a weird name but the chocolate isn't weird at all. There's a window inside the shop for you to peek into the kitchen(? "magic chocolate room" may be more appropriate?) to watch the magic happen. I was pretty transfixed by waves of melted chocolate turning into solid bases when I was first here. Oh. Wait. Hnnng. Sorry, I just remembered the hazelnut hot chocolate I got from here the other day as well and had to take a moment. Ahhh. Anyway. Just try to limit yourself to only half a dozen different chocolates here. JUST TRY. YOU FOOL! There is some really sweet bench seating both inside and out, and actually a very attractive brunch menu, too. I see what you're doing to me, Cat's Tongue. I see. You can't trick me. I'm onto you, you seductress.
