Fantastic Shanghai style food. Also, this is family style portions so don't get scared away by the prices. My wife and I got an order of pork dumplings and there were five of them. Then I got a single cup of hot and sour soup which was good and spicy, but I felt like I could've gotten the same soup at a cheapo takeout. Then for entrees, the red pork and taro and the ma po tofu. The mistake was getting two entrees because the portions are so massive. The pork and taro was really delicious. I could've eaten that all myself. It is served in a really rich brown garlicky sauce. The tofu was intense though and I should have known better when I saw it had crushed Sichuan pepper corns. The flavors of the soup and pork clashed pretty harshly with the tofu spice. Still it was a good dish on it's own.And the final surprise was the bill, I was expecting at least $100 but walked out at around $72. Great experience. And really cool vintage interior too.
Similar to Cafe China but larger, but with a slightly smaller menu. Everything we had (lotus root, kaofu, cucumber, soup, dumplings, scallion pancake, fried rice, eggplant, sesame balls, potato donuts) was great. Best scallion pancake ever.
