We have been coming to Citrus Cafe since they were a seedling in the ground.  Let's just say it's been a tremendously long time.  Out of all the places that we frequent for breakfast, Citrus Cafe is indeed the gold standard.  This is the place that we compare everyone else to.  It used to be a constant battle between Johnny Reb's on Chapman and The Citrus Cafe.  Two different styles of food but both equally delicious.  What they both had going for them was the quality of the food and the overwhelming sense of customer service that both places had.   Those of you that are local know that Johnny Reb's sold and closed their Chapman location right before the pandemic even though their Long Beach location is still open and wonderful.  As some of the other Citrus Cafe reviews have mentioned, the staff is warm and welcoming every time you go in.  They will remember your name, if you like coffee, if you take Cholula to go with your breakfast.   Shirley is the manager, and you couldn't ask for a nicer person to greet you when you come in.  She remembers if you like a booth or table as well as if you have favorite wait staff and will try to sit you in their section.  You easily feel like you could be friends with her outside of the restaurant.  My whole family just loves her.  Jose is one of the best bussers around, he not only makes sure that you have everything that you need, but he will also bring coffee, water and tea if the servers are busy.  He is prompt about removing used items and plates as well as taking away used Splenda and creamer containers as you use them.  Just such a nice guy.  So now I have to name our favorite server, Misty.  She seems like a part of the family when we go there.  She remembers what you want, anything you ask for and is always making sure that you are good.    She does not hover but is always aware.  Misty will remember if you were going to see a movie the last time you were in and will ask how it was.   And truly one of the sweetest, kindest people that we have met.  Truly a gem.   The food is always on point.  With top quality ingredients, a great chef and fabulous wait staff, it's easy to see why it has been a favorite for many years.  You will pay a couple of dollars more per item than a Spires/Coco's type of place but you will know why, and be happy to do it, when you take your first bite.  Favorite items, Corned beef hash, home style potatoes and eggs.  The Pancake Sandwich is a great go-to item.  The steak skillet is outstanding with a ton of steak in it.  And if you are a fan of benedicts or hollandaise sauce, be careful, this place should have a danger sign out because they are sooooo good.  Last minute mention, their new breakfast sandwiches are really good and packed full of ingredients.  Most of your other breakfasts you will bring about half home, but you can finish a breakfast sandwich in one sitting.  Barely...lol.   I just can't recommend them enough; I hope that you try them.
