City girl cafe is a popular cambridge brunch spot. It definitely caters to a crunch granola crowd. The employees are lovely, and I appreciated the funky art and decor. It's also well priced which is always great, not sure anything is over $15 on the menu. But I don't quite get the hype. I ordered the goat cheese egg sandwich and was overwhelmed by the amount of bread. I didn't think the breakfast potatoes were particularly well seasoned and felt lukewarm when served. Mimosas were also $9. I imagine they want to prevent people from staying too long. They don't take reservations so best to be there when they open around 10.
This is one of the best places you could go. They specialize in brunch and Italian and it shows! The atmosphere is super chill and comforting. The staff is a well knit group that somehow manages to stay smiling and cohesive through any packed house and takes the time to chat and check in wether there's just you or a full house. If you go for brunch deff try their monte cristo. And if you're into sangria this is hands down the best I've had around. I honestly don't know how they make it but I'm happy af they do. I can't recommend them more. Oh and if you can, catch them on their pop up dinner nights - their pizza so good!
City Girl never disappoints. Food is always great and the staff is always friendly. I had recently moved back to Boston and saw that they no longer do dinners only brunch now. I was disappointed by this because whenever I feel for pasta I go to City Girl instead of the North End. Their Brunch is bomb-dot-com. My husband wanted to surprise me with date night and I was trying to figure out where we were headed and I started to guess but he wouldn't say. City Girl was one of my guesses but he didn't say until we walked up to their door. Apparently they do pop up dinners on a Thursday now (not all but 1ce or 2ce a month). We went to their pizza party and let me tell you... I'm not a pizza person, I have to be in the mood for it. Their pizzas are so good. We started off with a bruschetta which is my favourite bruschetta I've ever had. It's not a refreshing summery taste but more of a comfort food to me with the whipped ricotta. Then we ordered a pepperoni pizza and a prosciutto, fig and arugula pizza. Pepperoni is and will always be my go-to pizza. The PFA pizza I was a little nervous about it since I'm not really a prosciutto fan since it has such a strong flavour, at first we were thinking to swap the prosciutto with the pepperoni but our hostess wasn't so sure how it would pair with the fig so I said lets do it they way they have it on the menu I'm sure I'm gonna like the pizza since none of their dishes have disappointed me yet. And guess what I really liked it. I didn't even notice the prosciutto because how fresh the ingredients on the pizza were that it just tasted like a very refreshing pizza. I tasted each ingredient individually as well and I couldn't believe how strong each flavour is but they unify when eaten all together. We had their tiramisu for dessert which was good. Can't wait for the next pop up menu night.
