Once the promenade around the Museum of the American Gangster is over, visit Clay Pot. Cantonese and Chinese food is nice at this place. You can always try mouthwatering eel, belly pork and beef at this restaurant. It's nice to taste good beer or delicious wine. Order great tea or good coffee.

At Clay Pot, you can get a takeaway. The high ratings of this place wouldn't be possible without the nice staff. You will appreciate low prices. There is a pretty atmosphere and terrific decor at this spot. This restaurant achieved 4.5 Yelp stars for serving dishes of a high standard.

It's a little overpriced for what it delivers. A novel thing you should try once, but once is enough.
I love love love clay pot, so this was a huge disappointment. Lacking the savoryness I associate with clay pot comfort food.
I only have clay pot meals when I visit Hong Kong so I was pretty excited when I found this in the East Village (perks of living 20 mins from the city!) I've read some reviews where this place was hard to find so it was a good heads up for looking in the basement of the neighborhood. We found parking around the corner and was within 2 mins walking distance to the restaurant. Like everyone said, this place is TINY so if you're coming with more than 4 people, expect to be seated in the back toward the restroom. There was a group of 5 before us and they sat at the back table near the bathroom and anytime people needed to use the bathroom, one of them had to move out the way to let them through. We came here on a Saturday night around 8pm and there was only that one group waiting before us and another couple. The indecisive couple before us couldn't decide whether to sit at a back table or at the bar and ended up taking the bar seat where we wanted to sit. Anyway, it would've been cool to have been seated at the bar so you can watch the cooks do their magic. The tables in the back are pretty crammed so don't expect this to be super private when you're having a conversation. We waited probably  about 10 mins and ordered right away. Their menu is simple (see picture of menu)- everything is cooked and steamed in the clay pot, including the rice, making the bottoms and edges of the rice nice and crispy! I ordered the Chinese sausage and shrimp with my pot which came with veggies and a fried tofu where they drizzled on this sweet sauce on top. I wish they gave more sauce but it's good they didn't overpower it with the sauce. The service was good- they were attentive in refilling waters and making suggestions if needed and they were constantly walking back and forth to make sure everyone was well taken care of. The food was delicious. The way the rice is cook was perfect..much more grainier and less 'mushy' with the method of their cooking in the clay pot. The Chinese sausage was sooo good (provably cuz I haven't had it in a LONG time) and the shrimp was really fresh and not over/under cooked. I would definitely come back with another couple...but again, it gets crowded so if you have issues with sitting next to other people, this is NOT a good place for you. I assume this place gets real popular during the winter time and on a cool summer night, it really was the perfect meal. Coming Winter would probably feel more crowded since everyone will be wearing thicker jackets..on a cool summer night with an open kitchen that's cooking hot food, their AC/fan was working really well. I gave this a four star only because I wish they had more options for their topping..there were a lot of heavier foods that'll make you full a lot faster, but overall I'd come back!
