The patio is gorgeous - amazing views of the Edmonton river valley set against the backdrop of this historic hotel. The flowers and grounds are stunning. Kudos to the groundskeepers. Wish we could say the same for the service or the food. Stopped in today for some drinks and a snack or two. Waited too long to be served and though I won't begrudge the absurd drink prices (you kind of expect that at a historic Fairmont property), the food menu was also very expensive and it under-delivered. $25 for nachos + $6 for chicken. What received was a stack of under-seasoned nacho chips with a little tiny bit of cheese a chicken sprinkled on top with a few sprigs of cilantro and a side of store bought generic salsa. We had planned on staying for another drink or two but despite the nice surroundings weren't actually enjoying the service and were kind of turned off by the first plate we ordered.
Beautiful and a little expensive for food but drinks are fairly priced for the experience.
Great spot for an elegant drink in an old school bar setting. I love the classical ambience here and the old-English style decor/seating. Unfortunately, I hear they are changing my favourite thing about this bar which is the rich historical vibe and replacing it with something modern. I will not be going once they do that as all the other bars in town have that and can do that better. Fairmont, stick with your competitive advantage and enhance the character and historical appeal of the venue rather than updating it to something that is already overdone in our city.
