Conscious Culture Cafe was our first meal on the Big Island.  After a week traveling and eating, I feel confident that this is one of the better eateries on the island. We initially selected this restaurant because it had vegan and gluten free options because my daughter needs both.  I expected my daughter to be pleased, but I was surprised my husband selected and enjoyed a vegan gluten free option as well.  Me, I selected the brekky with eggs, gluten and ham and that was excellent too.  I have to mention that I was surprised they had Kombucha that I actually liked!
Best food ever. Very healthy options, and they had the tastiest vegan food I've ever tried. Everyone there is super nice and actually look like they actually enjoy their jobs. The kombucha they had there was also to die for! I stayed in Hilo for 3 days and ate there at least 5 times.
I wish I could like this place cuz I love their kombucha but I think I'll just but it from the grocery store from now on. I don't know who does the hiring over there. The kitchen staff is great but front of house could use some work. I've had a few employees be rude or condescending to me. They also seem to lack any kind of dress code. My last visit to grab a quick Kombucha I was helped by a young girl who looked like she'd just rolled out of bed and gone to work. Booty shorts, crop top tank and no bra is never appropriate work attire for a restaurant. I've been a server most of my adult life (I'm 30) and I would be embarrassed to go into work dressed like that!
