Hi Nina, If we could of left a review about you when you left we would of done so we could warn other hard working restaurant teams about how it would feel to serve you. I have been prewarned by our wonderful team of staff about this review arriving, on that particular evening everybody was upset about how they could not pease you and i reassured them that occasionally customers like this come along and to get your head up and keep doing the great job that they do and care about so much, you are obviously used to a much higher class of establishment than we are but we never advertise as being anything other than a friendly countryside eatery. Our windows are always a bit dusty on the outside, its because there is a 20 foot drop to the river outside and its extremely hard to access so i am sorry about that, its a problem we know about, the windows are old and they are also a problem but in truth its so hard running a hospitality business like this at the moment with overheads where us as the owners cant even take a wage from, changing the windows for £30,000 is inconsievable, we are looking into how we sort this, thanks for bringing it to attention. Lets address the other points Nobody there to meet us - We are not a city restaurant that is busy every night, we usually work 4 people, we could certainly not afford to employ somebody to wait for you at the door, its not that sort of place, its more family friendly, casual dining. Bar deserted - Yes it would be as this is how pubs often are now, especially ones out of town, im sorry we wasn't busier for you. The staff were stressed - Yes they was but this was solely because of you and not the other customers, my wife was the Thai lady running around trying to make you happy, if the attention given to your table was given to everybody we would of needed to work twice as many staff and lose tens of thousands annually, again we are not fine dining. For reference our head front of house is exceptional and i sit and watch with my own eyes and hear customers fill her with lovely compliments and i have been seeing this for at least six years, she cares about everybody and is wonderful at the type of customer service we give. With regards to the food, you told us that you hadnt had Thai before and that it wasnt your type of thing, Spring rolls are made fresh every time we open, Thai Curries are less thick then other curries, thats what they are, Fresh chilli is a flavour that is liked in Thai food, we can not change that its a Cuisine, not something we have designed ourselves, Its hard to believe my wife, somebody who has cooked on Thai national TV is being preached to about the quality of Thai food by somebody who hasnt had it before and doesnt apparently like the cuisine. Do you know that my wife and head chef was awarded and mentioned in the Houses of parliament after covid for exceptional contribution in supplying fantastic quality food when it was needed most, they know exactly what they are doing i 100% assure you. My wife to my complete disagreement removed items you ordered but didnt like (even though you had nothing to ever compare to) off of your bill but you still go away and dirty protest, even after thanking us on your way out the door, have you ever. To anybody else reading this review, yes we are not perfect and our 300 year old riverside building could use some modernisation in places but i can assure you that we do care about your custom and our food does not lack in quality, its all home made in house for every service, fresh meat from the butcher and fresh veg from the greengrocer.
