Food was average at best, prices are reasonable. Haven't been here for a meal in a while.  Doesn't seem as good as I remember or as exotic.  Food was too heavy and not enough Mexican spices for me.  Salsa was excellent, and the chips were fresh.  My salmon was kinda oily sitting in nearly tasteless cilantro side sauce.  RIce was fine, but the sauteed spinach had too much garlic.  There was nearly no spinach taste.  My wife's enchilada was over salted.  Portion sizes were generous. Not a bad meal, but there are plenty of upscale Mexican restaurants that I'd rather go back to or try next time. The wait staff is nice and there seemed to be a lot of regular clientele.  Maybe that is how they stay in business?
We used to live up the street from this place and remember when it opened and have been going for years! Above average every time! Huge portions, great service. My favorite is the pasta California! Even the small portion is huge! My hubby loves the Mexican lasagna and his new favorite is the roasted corn ravioli! Soooo yummy. My daughter loves the fajitas! One of our top five favorite restaurants ever!! Don't miss out.....
Being locals, we go/order from here fairly often (around three/four times a month). Food is fine - not amazing, not awful. But the dagger came from my our most recent visit. Had some family in from out of town. Had our toddler with us (the place is very kid friendly). Anyway, our server (who was doing well), mid-meal, spills a diet coke all over the table. Like, it was a flood. Fine. Accidents happen. Granted, I took the brunt of the flood - my lower body was essentially bathing in diet coke. Again, it was a mistake, an accident, and I don't want to make a scene with people in town. I assume common sense prevails. After about 7 minutes of a clean up crew and multiple drenched cloth napkins, we're told one margarita has been covered. Oh? Not my meal? Not the bill? A margarita. Bold move. Again, don't want to make a scene... (pretty surprised) but shouldn't make a scene. We get our bill (biting our tongues). We decide with a last minute audible - "let's get the mud pie" (which, honestly, is very tasty). I figure, "OK, we got our bill. I just survived a tsunami, we're kinda getting screwed, but we'll enjoy the desert. They'll cover that." Nope. Mud pie is brought out instantly, and guess what? An updated check! Gotta add that $7.95 or whatever the hell it was! Just ridiculous. Farewell, Coyote Cantina.
