My first time at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store was a success!  I've heard so many great things about Cracker Barrel, but unfortunately, there's not one in Washington state.  But while in Virginia, I was able to eat here for breakfast, which was everything I had hoped for. I didn't know what to expect when I visited Cracker Barrel.  When we walked into the entrance, we walked into a store, which is when I realized why it's called Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.  Got it!  The store had home accessories and goods, a lot of gift items and lots of treats.  They definitely try to lure you into buying stuff here, as you pay your tab at the store, in addition to entering through the store first to get to the restaurant. We checked in for breakfast and the place was super busy, but we were able to be seated immediately.  Score!  The menu had a lot of traditional breakfast items to choose from, along with alcoholic drinks, like mimosas.  I ordered the country fried steak, which came with gravy, eggs, biscuits, grits and hashbrowns.  YUM!  Everything was delicious.  The chicken fried steak was very tender and flavorful.  I really liked the country gravy that it came with, especially with the soft, flaky biscuits.  I was pleasantly surprised by the hashbrowns here!  The shredded potato was cheesy with onion in it.  It was awesome.   I wish we had a Cracker Barrel in my neck of the woods!  I'm glad I was finally able to check out this restaurant with southern, country fare and friendly customer service.  I'll be dreaming about that gravy.  And the hashbrowns.  And the biscuits.  And the chicken fried steak.
