Ragin Cajun Review Time: Cub's Crawfish So I saw someone one here post some nice roux thick crawfish étouffée, which my body has been searching for since Jerry's closed down. Let's see if we found the honey hole. As you know, I have to try a little bit of everything and with it being cold outside today was the day to spice it up. So I almost killed myself trying to get in here, because I was coming from down town. But parking is in the back of the building and the entrance is on the side of the building and not street side. Not the ambience I was expecting when I walked in, not that I care, but welcome to baby LA. Totally laid back picnic table atmosphere, so come as you are even in your pjs. Super friendly staff and very attentive. My sampler platter (which I'm so glad I did): seafood bisque, seafood gumbo, jambalaya, and crawfish étouffée. So the heavens have finally shined down on me with the Cajun cuisine. I still have not found anyone to top Jerry's, but this is a close second. The seafood bisque was amazingly flavored (a little thin and soupy), but so good I took a bowl home for dinner. The nice thick roux based seafood gumbo was amazing. This is what I have been looking for people. Thick roux not soup. The jambalaya was super fresh and loaded with chicken and sausage. Absolutely tasty. Now what I had my heart set on was this étouffée. Absolutely perfectly roux thick texture, BUT (kinda sad right now) it had the straight taste of hot sauce. Now these dishes did pack a little bit of spice (I love spicy food), so if you don't like a little heat this may not be for you. So overall review: service 5/5 and food 4/5 (heart broke étouffée). So turn up the heat and come try this place. I will be back, especially when crawfish season is in!!!
