We were the first customers in this expensive restaurant. Despite that, we were put next to what turned out to be the screened entrance to the bathroom. We also had a small refrigerator next to us that was frequented by the wait staff to retrieve wine. Our seats were not comfortable. The seats against the window had cushions on them. I don’t understand why they put us where they did. The restaurant was ultimately half-empty as we left two hours later. It was not pleasant to eat with constant flow of people trying to pry open the screen to the bathroom behind us. It was the only place in town for me to try Lamprey- fresh water eel. The appetizer with eel was very good. Unfortunately, Baccala was tasteless with tasteless sauce, and it was over cooked. I could not eat but a small portion of it - very rare behavior for me. So their dishes are very uneven. For the most expensive restaurant on our 5 day trip to Ferrara it was unacceptable. The wine that was recommended to us by the “sommelier” was one of the worst we’ve ever had. It’s such a shame, for Emilia–Romagna has such wonderful wines. It took forever to get our bill, despite us telling our waiter that we are getting up very early next morning. He kept wandering around, chatting with colleagues and other customers.
Best place to be in town!Something really close to the perfect idea of an intimate dinner: cosy spaces, refined atmosphere, care and precision in the service for a great job on superlative raw materials ... and all of these good adjectives have been very well priced! One tip: book your table in advance cause it's a tiny and precious spot!
Sublime ! Da stella
