We all have our trigger foods don't we? One of mine is definitely pizza. I had spent the entire weekend exercising, eating healthy food, baking sugar-free desserts for the upcoming week and then my friend Ron suggested pizza for dinner and that was the end of that! With both of us being ex New Yorkers and his recommendation for Cugino Forno Pizzeria which he claimed has the best pizza in Greensboro, and having only been to it once before, it seemed like a great choice during COVID. I had remembered it was a big open space with large tables and plenty of room to socially distance, so why not? I put on my fat clothes and headed over to meet him. For those of you who have not been there, it's part of the Revolution Mills development. It's amazing what they have done with the former Cone Mills. Beautiful shops and offices and restaurants with the original façade. It's quite accessible. Just head on Yanceyville Street and you will run right into it pretty close to Cornwallis. That area is a hidden gem not known to all Anyway, Ron ordered the Calabrese and I ordered the Napoletana.  He wanted extra to slices to bring home to his wife and I was going to save three quarters of the pie for another time. Well, things didn't quite happen the way I had planned. Before I knew it, I had eaten half the pie as my attached photos will attest! The pie was very tasty without a doubt. Attractive ingredients and well prepared. Personally, I would have liked a little more marinara sauce on my pizza. They bring you some marinara in a cup on the side but I found it to be spicy and not to my taste. I was also disappointed to discover once again that there are no unlimited drinks, so once you buy your bottle of soda, that's it unless you want to purchase another one. North Carolina has spoiled me with unlimited refills so this was a turn off. What good is a slice of pizza if I can't have my unlimited Diet Coke? My daughter always reminds me that for one of her birthdays I took her out for pizza and when the restaurant told me they did not have Diet Coke I literally left my birthday girl sitting at the dining table as I headed out in a rainstorm to a gas station to get a can or two. What can I tell you? I like what I like! Anyway, it once again felt wonderful to be in a restaurant and not be freaked out about COVID now that I am vaccinated. That was the best part of all! I also thought it was kind of expensive. I had to pay $19 for my pizza which seemed like a lot to me. I did notice they had $8.99 frozen pizzas to go that were made there and those certainly looked like a great deal that I will consider in the future. Before I demolished the other half of my pizza I put it in a box and headed home. But you know me! That box was driving me crazy until I dived in there and heated up two more pieces! To add insult to injury, that sparked off my sweet tooth and I made a quick run to McDonald's for a chocolate fudge sundae.( I'll review McD another time!! Lol ) Don't tell my trainer!! Ron says it's the best pizza in Greensboro. I don't know if I agree, but it certainly is good and worth a try. I will be back with a bottle of Diet Coke hidden in my pocket!!
