Top notch service and delicious food prepared with mostly in house grown ingredients. Open floor and spacious makes it perfect for bigger groups while still remaining perfectly cozy.
Take a way Pumpkin soup, was great.
I have heard so much about this place and was very looking forward to dine there. The setting itself is beautiful. From the little farm at the entrance, walking in to a spacious dining area, passing through a private dining zone and onto another green house glass ceiling dining area. I also enjoyed how they left a huge bowl of apple for diners to takeaway as a souvenir. The service was prompt that day, which I enjoyed. We tried all the Dutch white wine by the glass that day with our meal, the taste and notes are very pleasant and smooth, which was much to our surprise. The shortfalls of our dinner are - (1) banquette chairs - it was just SO uncomfortable for me. It’s such a shame that I always think a great restaurant some time get some minus points due to uncomfortable furniture seating. It truly influence your mood and experience.. it was a long dinner, and half way through it realize how uncomfortable and unergonomical the seating lower back and bum was in pressure/stress and therefore physically they just couldn’t relax. Like my muscle literally couldn’t relax.... while emotionally I enjoyed the dinner, the setting, that seating truly made an influence on my dining experience for 3 hours. (2) the food was VERY salty that day. First was the tahini paste for snack that was so salty. That my tongue and mouth actually gasp for water. Like when you accidentally gulp sea water and your body automatically do that face and alert you to drink fresh water. I thought it was just that dish. But many of the dishes we had were so salty. The beginning of the taste was just so delight but suddenly, the end note that upon you swallow the food, your tongue has that bitter and salty taste in the back of the tongue. It wasn’t pleasant unfortunately. (3) upon almost finishing the beetroot dish that day, I found a hair in the bottom of the dish ... informed the waiter but he couldn’t do much about it. As per my partner who has been here couple of times, he did mention our dinner that day was underwhelming compare to other time. Unfortunately, that was my first experience at de kas. I thoroughly enjoyed it though, but those 3 shortfalls are something they could definitely work on and improve. Dining experience at restaurant, isn’t just about the food, but also the setting and hospitality must make the guests feel welcome and comfortable. An unforgettable dining experience is a full rounded experience that touches all elements. I will come back just so my first time wasn’t as great as other experienced it to be, and i hope next time I will have that mind blowing experience as others!
