We have had multiple great experiences at da Cove Health Bar. The açaí bowls are top notch. The best honey I have ever had, even my wife who doesn’t like honey loved it. We went multiple times in a week. The parking is bad but can park up the street in the neighborhood and walk over. Service: Take out Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Free parking lot, Free street parking

Much appreciated the gluten free (gf) granola here!! Only got the basic açaí bowl but really enjoyed it. Particularly good when you add the toasted coconut on it as well!

On a recent quest of açai bowls, after hiking on a hot weekend, I met up with Auntie (Nadine C.) for brunch.  While doing a comparison of previous places we've tried, she mentioned we should next go to Da Cove Health Bar and Cafe (DCHBC).   With my new freedom on the weekends, I'm game on exploring and trying new places.   I made a promise to myself to relax on this 4th of July long weekend.  My hiking plans got derailed with rain on my way to East Oahu.  I ended up eating lunch and I get a text from Auntie asking if I'd be game for an açai bowl.  With that invite I intentionally didn't finish my lunch so I could squeeze in the açai bowl from DCHBC. Located in Diamond Head Health Center with popular neighbor Bogart's, DCHBC first started in 2003 and they offer fruit smoothies, salads, açai and pitaya bowls, juices and sandwiches.  They opened a second location at Ka Makana Ali'i in Kapolei May 2017 but sadly they closed their doors in Jan 2020. Visiting DCHBC during COVID as Oahu opened up to Tier 4 still has some businesses for carry out only and sadly DCHBC didn't have dine-in during my visit with the exception of 2 dining tables outside in front of the door.   I pretty much did my homework and ordered the Mana Bowl ($10.50), an açai bowl topped with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, honey, bee pollen and organic granola.   While standing in line to pay, I noticed the daily special of beef stew for only $9, that comes with rice and mac salad. I also saw a sign on their plexiglass advertising a 3.5% transaction fee that is applied if you pay via card.  DCHBC also participates in the 5-Stars program. Ordering was a quick transaction and the friendly staff took my name and within 5 min my name was called. THE VERDICT: I was impressed on how quick my açai bowl was ready after ordering.  Appearance wise I also appreciated the fresh fruits nicely placed on top with the honey pollen and drizzle. Both of the tables were occupied so I stood on the shade and ate my Mana Bowl.  My cup looked good but I wasn't thrilled on the first bite.  The açai was on the watery side and it wasn't really temperature cold.  I really enjoyed the granola quality and how it was placed on the bottom and top of the cup.  On a positive note, the sliced fruits were fresh but could have used more. Overall, an average first experience here where I wouldn't object coming back here to try other things off their menu.  Would I order their açai bowl again?  Probably not.
