Nice and quiet for a Thursday night date. Plenty of options on the menu for vegetarians (even one who doesn't like spicy food!). The food was delicious and well plated, and it came out extremely quickly. I'd recommend the sweet corn tamale as a starter. The mushroom dish came with a veritable lake of mole sauce--yum! The queso fundido was pretty simple but great. I loved the honey lavender cocktail I ordered--although I did remove a few of the ice cubes to keep it from getting watered down (it would be great with one of those jumbo ice cubes that doesn't melt much). We split the mango lemongrass flan and loved every bite. Such a unique mix of flavors! We accidentally shut the place down, not realizing that they closed at 9 on weeknights, but no one was mean about it. Side note: the women's bathroom smells weirdly wonderful. I'd love to know what kind of air freshener they use!
Underwhelming. But the price was surprising, so there is that? I had read all the reviews and was excited to come here, but although staff was very nice, it felt off. The music was ambient club and the chips and salsa were in small portions ... and 7 bucks (there was a pumpkin seed (?) hummus that was confusing. I'd rather more of the guac, but the guac had little to no heat.). The margarita I was looking forward to was small...and 10 bucks (the ice cubes in it were enormous). Neither the chips/salsa or margarita could beat our hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint where portions are twice the size and well spiced. I had halibut (27$) and my partner a pork steak with black beans (21$). Both were good, but again, the price. I paid 80$ for the whole meal and we both left feeling that we overpaid for what was perfectly fine food, but not better than a mom and pop with horchata on "tap" and a tv on in the corner.
Went for the first time, the service was great!. I tried the Octopus Fried Rice it was so delicious it was a little spicy but so good. I also had the Braised Short Rib, the meat was so tender and soft. They have a few specialty drinks as well. Can't wait to go back.
