Read the rave review for this doughnut so I decided to try it. Lots of flavors were still available although I was there late night (after dinner). Brooklyn black out: the doughnut was very dense and it was more like a chocolate cake. It tasted good: just enough chocolate, the dough itself was not too sweet & lots of cookie crumbles on top. Dense doughnut is not my cup of tea but it was a good doughnut

Before gourmet donuts became a thing on the West Coast there was a small industrial outlet called Doughnut Plant. As far as I remember they were the first in bringing the highest quality ingredients into the doughnut world. Things like Madagascar Vanilla and Valrhona Chocolate were not a part of the doughnut lexicon. Then comes Voodoo Doughnut which is more of a novelty factory which is fun but I don't think the focus is on flavor. Then you have Blue Star which in my mind comes very close to the quality of "The Plant". In short, don't miss this place if you are an aficionado and are looking for an exotic experience. If I were to come back to this area even with limited time I would seek out this place and eat their donut at the top of the Empire State Building just like in Sleepless in Seattle...just kidding!
