This is located across from Jamaica Bay Trailer Park where seniors live. True that a good portion of them find their way inside, though, interestingly enough, you'll find a mix of all ages. Dowd's Pub & Grill has a warm, homey sort of feel, w/o the clique-ish atmosphere of most bars. The service is efficient, yet inviting, though I'm not quite sure what the decor is...........some sort of antique kitsch sort of thingy....... idk. When I arrived to meet up with friends, I was promptly greeted by a cheery server with a warm, sunny disposition......unlike other establishments where you can meet friends, stay an hour, and not be acknowledged at all. I settled on the chicken quesadillas, which arrived soon enough. The food was piping hot, and fresh, the gelatenous texture held up perfectly. One of my friends suggested I try some dessert so, as they were out of carrot cake, which is truly homemade, I went for the chocolate cake. It was a 7 layer slab of heaven, served with a drizzle of raspberry, I believe, topped with whipped cream. Naturally, I had to invite all in my party to sample this heavenly goodness, much to their delight. Hey, I know of a couple of establishments that may want to take a peek at how delicious food preparation gets done. Karaoke was the event of the night, where all had a great time. Believe me.........I have now found my Monday night on my way to work location. Give em a try. You'd be hard pressed to pass them up.
