Cute atmosphere and food is great
Great little restaurant.... Got the smoked sampler amd shrimp and grits. Shrimp and grits was good but unconventional. Shrimp was fried but good. Grits were delicious. Smoked sampler was goid but mac and cheese was no hot and cheese not melted. Otherwise, restaurant was clean and nice with a farmhouse feel. Service was good. Will be going back to try other things on the menu.
Saturday we had dinner at Driftwood Southern Kitchen in Raleigh. It was our first time and we were a party of 12. My one star rating is based on the customer service I received by the manager and waitress. We had ordered two warm apple crisps for our dessert. It had a top layer of granola and ice cream on top, when we started digging in we noticed whole pecans (the description on the menu NEVER mentioned pecans). My daughter has a tree nut allergy- not so extreme that it's airborne , her food can be prepared in the same kitchen and come in contact in areas where there were pecans prepared. She just cant digest the actual pecan itself, it will send her to the ER. I politely told the manager, what we ordered and how the pecans were not listed on the menu. He kept saying ok, I asked if one of the desserts could come off my bill, he said ok and then he said I should have told them about my daughters allergy beforehand (she ordered a side salad and side of mac n cheese) I told the waitress too and she never apologized or said thanks for bringing it to our attention we will fix that on our menu. She also turned it on us for not informing them of the allergy ( really acted miffed, but brushed it off , I guess its b/c she was still getting her 18% tip from each of our tickets) Its not about us not informing them, its about the vague description of the dessert. Just satisfy your customer with reassurance that the menu will be changed, so a ER visit can be avoided. This ruined our entire experience and we will not be returning.
