My aunt told me that I needed to go here. In her words, "SUPER NUMBER 1". Was it super, I mean kinda. Was it number 1? Not really. So stands out, I'd say none. They're all yaknow good. But did any of them make me wanna tell a stranger to go here because its SUPER NUMBER 1? No. Would I come here again with family? Oh absolutely. I mean I love dim sum in general and it hits that craving. So yeah come here! Then have a lovely walk on crab cove to burn off some calories.

Finally, I've found my Bay Area dim sum place (at least outside of SF). I live in San Jose, and dim sum is hard to come by down here. Some friends had discovered East Ocean and promised it was worth the drive: they were right. We showed up on a Saturday morning for cart service, expecting a crowd and a line, but at around 10 a.m., there was neither! We went straight to the table and were instantly served up piping hot dim sum to our hearts' delight. I think I tried everything shrimp, and I was not disappointed. Along with the har gow, my favorite dish was the honey walnut shrimp. I didn't much enjoy the custard buns, so next time I'll work on finding my favorite sweet dish. Service was great: friendly and attentive. At some dim sum places, you almost never see the cart again after they stop by once. Here, they always made sure we were fed! Overall I was thrilled with this place and I'll definitely be back.
