This place is just awesome both for locals and tourists. They have a huge menu, almost as if you're at a typical American chinese restaurant, with all styles of Mexican cuisine. It's definitely expensive by Mexican standards, but not at all by American standards. If you're American like me, you'll find that it has an upscale feeling, while still trying to stick to traditional roots and food. I usually write my recommendations here but... everything I've had here is great. Mole, octopus, tacos, ceviche, hot chocolate, etc. I've been here many times and will probably come here at least once per visit to Mexico City.
We came to el cardenal as a large group of 9. I had made the reservation a while back but they said they didn't have it. After a minute they found it. There was a bit of a wait but eventually we sat down. Well worth it. The pastries and hot chocolate are must haves. I had an ant egg omelette which was interesting. The steak was yummy. And had some good juices.
This a nice place to have a great breakfast is a very great place I always every time come to Mexico city I always come
