So I wrote a review 1 month ago under “Kae Soto”where I said the big lady with glasses who I now know is the manager REFUSED to offer my brother alcoholand we still we don’t know the reasoning.?After he showed them both of his ids she started being rude and said we just cant serve u and told my brother to stop “yelling at her” when she was yelling at him. So I wrote the reviewfast foward 1 month today 3/29/26 me and my brother and sister and my mother come in. Everything went great until we went to pay and it was the manager lady. my mom was very professional and said he was about to turn 23 and just to be being honest..that was supposed to be the end of it. She then comes back and talks to my mother and says “yeah I read the Facebook review” “could u please tell ur kids to be more respectful and not call me “fat”. Mind u I didn’t say fat in my review I said big and she is and she was very disrespectful to us. And my mom says excuse me u didn’t do ur job and my mom told the other people what happened and they said SHE DID THE EXACT SAME THING TO THEM! And when my mom was telling them the manager was yelling at my mom stop talking to them u need to leave she said “for ur daughter to get an education” talking about me and my sister? And so I just started mocking her with hand signs and she started trying to kick us out when she started throwing hand signs herself. She then started saying how she got an education and she knows Spanish so my mom proceeds to talk to her in Spanish because she has no clue what she is talking about. And I’m writing this as soon as I left because I will be doing something about this. This is just unacceptable customer serviceand from the manager of the restaurant. I have to say everyone else in the restaurant is well beyond excellent and the food is amazing. My original server was the bartender I gave him a 20$ tip he was great. I just can’t believe this is el Rey’s manager. Beyond disrespectful and rude and there was witnesses. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Hi Penelope, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We truly appreciate your kind words about the food and the service you received from your server—that means a lot to our team. At the same time, we are very concerned to read about the situation you described. What you experienced does not reflect the level of professionalism and respect we expect from anyone representing El Rey. We take concerns like this very seriously, especially when they involve interactions that made you and your family feel disrespected. Regarding the alcohol service, please understand that we are required to follow strict policies and state regulations when verifying identification, and there are situations where service may be declined even if an ID is presented. That said, this should always be communicated respectfully and professionally. We are also troubled by the way the interaction escalated. There is never an excuse for disrespectful communication on either side, and we sincerely apologize for how this situation made you and your family feel. We would have greatly preferred the opportunity to address and resolve this concern at the moment it occurred, as that is always the most productive way for us to make things right in real time. Please know that we are reviewing this matter internally. Your feedback helps us improve, and we do not take it lightly. Thank you again for your feedback. — El Rey

What a treat to have real TexMex in Dripping Springs. The food is a bit more Mex than Tex, but the menu really is created to satisfy all patrons. This far I've been there at least 6 times and it's always been great. From breakfast omlets with yummy cactus to enchilada dinners to steak fajita, El Ray never seems to disappoint. The guacamole is awesome, as are the warm served chips and delicious salsa. The charro beans are the best withinn 20 miles. The coffee is also surprisingly good and perfect for breakfast. Overall it's a hit!! Whether it be breakfast brunch or dinner El Rey Mexican Bar & Grill is a Great place to go for a casual Tex-Mex experience.
