It's very, very easy to eat too much here! Splendid tapas with a huge variety, and a great wine selection. Be careful of your ordered combinations if you're scared of rich foods, as it's all good. Best in a larger group of people you're comfortable sharing with. Great staff too.

Escondido Tapas Bar is a wonderful restaurant in the quaint Post Office Centre in Illovo. The atmosphere and decor are great - warm, low lit, and the walls decorated with chalk boards that also act as the menus. The tapas menu is comprehensive and filled with novel takes on classics (Eisbein springrolls, Spicy prawn toast), as well as full-sized meals portions of paella, steak etc. Interestingly, some items are very well priced for the quality and portion size, whereas others are smaller/lower quality and more expensive. It can therefore be a hit or miss experience if it is your first time. Sharing several dished and two bottles of wine between 5 people, we ended up paying R370 each.
