Fährhaus Rothenhusen Anno 1583 is a beautiful restaurant located at the northern end of the Ratzeburger See with stunning views of the lake. The self-service system is convenient, but unfortunately the service staff are not always as efficient as one would hope. The food is generally good, although some dishes can be hit and miss, especially the cakes. Prices are on the higher side, but this is understandable given the exclusive location. The coffee is excellent and the milkshakes are also worth trying. Unfortunately, the restaurant has been known to have issues with Coronavirus regulations. All in all, Fährhaus Rothenhusen Anno 1583 is a great place to visit for a meal or a drink, but it's worth checking reviews before you go.

Unfortunately the restaurant was still closed until 12 p.m. but one of the most beautiful islands in Schleswig Holstein and a wonderful bike ride back along the water to Ratzeburg
